BAGGI "CHAMPION OLYMPIQUE ET DU MONDE", year unknown; believe to be circa 1936-1938. Preparing to finish disassembly, and commence rebuilding. Any knowledge with regards to this marque would be appreciated.

Le pédalier est une fabrication MERCIER des années 30/40 et début 50.

Les freins GLORIA Tour de France semblent sortir en 1938 ou 1939, mais il semblerait que là ce soit un modèle "compact" plus récent ...?

Les dérailleurs SUPER-CHAMPION à fourchette ont été produits jusque début 50, le SIMPLEX, je ne sais pas..

I have verified the year of this frame as 1936, and possibly 1935. I contacted the original owner whose parents bought it for him in 1936. I am in the process of finding out which parts (if any) have been replaced through the years.

All parts are original except: saddle, seat post, post clamp bolt, and tires. Verified with the original owner.

The chain ring and crank arms have been identified as Fonlupt, and Derwis.

Mais après guerre, je n'ai pas trouvé de document dans lequel il soit présenté.

Compte-tenu de ces éléments, je déplace le sujet dans les vélos de course d'avant 1945 en maintenant le point d'interrogation.

Jesper, le précédent propriétaire n'a pas gardé de photos où on le voit avec son vélo ?

Thank you Alain for the pertinent information. I am still trying to to get any more information regarding the provenance of this bike. The gentleman who owned it is quite old, and I am conversing through a friend of his whom I got the bike from; he ran a shop that is closing next year and that is why was able to get this bike in the first place since it was a "not for sale" display bike only, not ridden or rebuilt.

I have been told that the chainwheel was Fonlupt (with a photo example of the same design provided); but another individual thought it was from August Sutter. If anyone can provide any definite information regarding that component it would be greatly appreciated. I have seen a Sutter chainwheel with an "S" design.

Sorry for long time of silence, but I work in a hospital and it has been a rough ride for me. Rather depressing and tiring. I have in the meantime been attempting to find the missing tension arm spring for the Simplex derailleur without any success. I will have to fabricate this spring in order to make the derailleur functional. I do not know how, but will try anything to get this bicycle on the road again. I do not know what amount of tension is required without having something to compare it to; trial and error at this point.

Ho continuato a cercare la molla del braccio di tensione, ma senza successo. La moto non funziona senza questa parte. In questo momento ho contattato una società per la fabbricazione personalizzata della parte, se possibile. Questo è difficile senza avere un esempio fisico per la misura del filo, il carico di tensione adeguato e il design della forma effettiva. Avere solo una foto potrebbe non essere adeguato per una corretta fabbricazione, quindi potrebbero essere richiesti più disegni per essere fabbricati e testati per la funzione quando installati.

Se qualcuno ha foto di buona qualità di questa parte apprezzerei molto se potesse pubblicarle.

Parte: Simplex Selection Professionnel molla del braccio tendicatena

Esempi di foto mostrano il braccio tendicatena "Professionnel" con la molla mancante e il braccio "Standard" con la molla in situ.
Non so se la molla era la stessa parte per entrambi i bracci tendicatena del modello "Professionnel" e "Standard".

I have continued to search for the tension arm spring, but no success. Bike is nonfunctional without this part. At this time I have contacted a company for the custom fabrication of the part if possible. This is difficult without having a physical example for gauging wire size, proper tension load, and actual shape design. Having only a photo might not be adequate for proper manufacture so multiple designs may be required to be manufactured and tested for function when installed.

If anyone has good quality photos of this part I would greatly appreciate it if they could post them.

Part: Simplex Selection Professionnel chain tensioner arm spring
Photo examples show "Professionnel" tenioner arm with spring missing, and "Standard" arm with spring in situ.
I do not know if the spring was the same part for both the "Professionnel" and "Standard" model tensioner arms.
