Humber? Mystery safety
Hi,
Any ideas what this could be? Crank is British made "King Dick". Badge is missing as always. Got this from Sweden a few years ago. Thanks in advance!

Re: Mystery safety
The fork is numbered as most of the parts, it's original.

Re: Mystery safety
A quel endroit précis la fourche est-elle numérotée ?
Re: Mystery safety
Ok, I get it. I have seen similar forks on other bikes, but it's a common way to repair broken forks. The number is on the fork "body" not the lower legs.

Re: Mystery safety
My opinion is he fork doesn't fit to quality of the rest of the frame, I will be very surprised if it is original.Finnois a écrit :The fork is numbered as most of the parts, it's original.
The legs seems to be screwed to the body, right? As you told us the body is numbered, perhaps body is original and the legs changed later? Just an idea...
Nice bike anyway.
Possible to send "zoomable" pictures? easier to apreciate details.
Have a good day.
I want my money back !
Re: Mystery safety
Yes, I understand now it's a repaired fork. I was just surprised because I have seen similar forks on other bikes. Valuable information thanks!
I have the original photos buried somewhere on my computer, these I got from another forum.
That's the sharpest image of Styria I found online. Not much documented.

Re: Mystery safety
Hi,
Johann Puch (Styria Fahrradwerke) was general agent of Humber & co., Ltd. in Austria. You can find more photos of the Styria safety, which is exhibited in the Museum of Technology in Vienna here: http://www.veliciousbicycles.com/2011/0 ... -wien.html
So it's likely that your bicycle was made by Humber. I found the 1889 catalogue in the VCC online library. The No. 5 Light Roadster is similar to yours. But I think yours is a bit younger - maybe 1890-91.
There are another images of Humber bicycles found at: https://www.gracesguide.co.uk/File:ImBeeston.jpg
The date is not correct of course.

Re: Mystery safety
Thanks for the hint, I'll take another look at it tomorrow, It's at my shop. Maybe It's just really faded. Removed all the rust, is visible If there. Other companies have ups and downs, KONE is going strong as always. It's a good business building high quality lifts..
