Spécial C.N.C.
Bon soir,
mon nom est Ralf et je suis d'Allemagne. Excuse moi, mais mon Francais n'est pas trés bien.
I have recently acquired an old Spécial C.N.C. frameset. I guess it is from the 1960's. The frame has been repainted somewhen in the past, it's original colour was turqouise. Why it is leabelled "Jean Marechal", I hab´ve no idea.
Maybe you could give me your impression and ideas on the frameset.
Thanks a lot!
Best,
Ralf

Il est le même.Jacques_Anquetil a écrit :Est-ce le même Jean Maréchal ?
Difficile à dire !

I have found a few pictures of him on the web surrounded by the same font used on the decals. Therefore I wonder of maybe he had a bikeshop and did the repainting himself.

Re: Spécial C.N.C.
Hi Ralf
You mention its a special CNC - how did you come to this conclusion ?
True to say I have a frame with similar features - top quality - and I also believe its a Special CNC.
The tricky thing is that quite a few of Special CNC were of very average craftmanship so it makes the "quality classification" difficult
I have heard , if I remember correctly; that there was a framemaker nicknamed "biquet" ( like one of TTV member but I do not believe they are one and the same person!) who was working there and producing this type of quality craftmanship. Others may comment on this piece of information

Re: Spécial C.N.C.
Merci beaucoup!
I think that it is a Spécial CNC due to the details. Here are a few more pictures. Originally it was turqouise. Numbers on frame and fork are matching. Maybe that gives a clue as well.

Re: Spécial C.N.C.
I am considering to replace the present decals with „Spécial CNC“ decals.
However I am a bit wary to remove the decals as they are part of the bikes history. Also I am curious about the whereabouts of the decals as it seems rather unlikely to me that someone had printed a few sets of decals with Marechals name without a certain reason.
Has anyone else seen a bike labeled „Cycles Jean Marechal“ before?

Re: Spécial C.N.C.
If I were you, I would leave it like that !
the quality of the frame is a marker - you don't need CNC on it ;-) especially as quite a few Special CNC are rather average.
